Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) is the world's largest government-funded health insurance scheme launched on 23 September 2018. It provides health cover of ₹5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalisation.

The scheme covers 10.74 crore vulnerable families (approx. 50 crore beneficiaries) identified from SECC 2011 database. It offers cashless treatment at more than 27,000 empanelled hospitals across India, both public and private.

As of 2024, over 7 crore hospitalizations have been authorized worth more than ₹90,000 crore.

Yes, PM-JAY is portable. You can avail treatment at any empanelled hospital across India.

How many times can I use in a year? ▾

There is no limit on number of hospitalizations, subject to the ₹5 lakh annual cap.
