Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana (MKSY) was launched by the Uttar Pradesh government in April 2019 to promote the welfare, health, and education of the girl child. The scheme provides financial support of ₹25,000 across 6 stages from birth to graduation.
The scheme aims to address issues like female foeticide, child marriage, and gender inequality in education. It directly transfers money to the bank account of the girl or her guardian at each milestone.
As of 2024, over 15 lakh girl children have benefited from the scheme across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.
